Ford Road pump station: Kaituna Catchment Control Scheme→
Stage One of the Ford Road Pump Station was completed in 2024 and involved upgrading the existing drain network. Stage Two involves installing a new pump station at another site. Stage 3 involves decommissioning of the old pump station.

Upgrading Whakatane CBD flood defences - Stage 2→
Stage Two construction began in February 2025 and covers the area from the Whakatāne iSite through to the end of Quay Street. Due to the size and scale of Stage Two, work will progress in several stages.

Rangitāiki River floodwalls→
Three concrete floodwalls on the Rangitāiki River have been replaced to ensure they continue to help protect the community from flooding in the coming decades.

Rangitāiki Floodway and Spillway→
The Rangitāiki Floodway is a multi-stage project designed to take pressure off the Rangitāiki River in a flood event, by diverting some of its flow, via a Spillway, into near-by farmland between stopbanks (known as the Floodway) and out the Rangitāiki River mouth at Thornton.
